The Rules Stink-- High-End Horticulture vs. Garden Variety Gardening with Felder Rushing, Gardening TV Celebrity & Author.

Too many new or wannabe gardeners are daunted by all the "how-to" of horticulture, when all they want is something to grow without a lot of bells and whistles. Mr. Rushing will debunk a lot of cherished horticultural myths and rules, and make gardening more enjoyable, less lock-step.

Believing that too many would-be gardeners are intimidated by a crush of "how-to" experts ("We are daunted, not dumb," he says),?Felder uses an offbeat, "down home" approach rife with humorous anecdotes and garden-irreverent metaphors, zany observations, and stunning?photography?and?to help gardeners get past the "stinkin' rules" of horticulture.

10:30 Session 2
The Hunt for Flowering Shrubs with Tim Wood, Product Development Manager of Spring Meadow Nursery, Grand Haven.

Tim travels the world looking for new and improved flowering shrubs. He disputes that shrubs are the backbone of the garden and makes the case that new breeding has made shrubs colorful enough to place in the front of the garden.

Get a glimpse of the best new flowering shrubs and new varieties that will be coming soon.

Unkillable Plants For Every Garden Style with Felder Rushing, Gardening TV Celebrity & Author.

Few people have the time or resources to coddle borderline plants. The bulk of any garden, regardless of style, can be filled with plants for all seasons - ever blooming shrub roses and other flowering shrubs, perennials, bulbs, grasses, trees, and more—that tolerate summer drought as well as winter cold.? Many are native; others are treasured "pass-along" heirlooms that make sense in even contemporary gardens.??
